I thought of my mother when I read this.
My mother, a nurse (then) checked herself into the hospital when she had contractions while carrying me.
Seeing mum so nonchalant being quite capable of "admitting" herself, the staff (and colleagues) thought she was still in early labour not realising she was actually having contractions so near to each other.
Mum had the help of the hospital janitor when delivering me (by herself).
Shocked, the doctors and nurse said, "doi, kami ingat ko main-main saja bila cakap ko mo beranak sudah!"
Mummy .... mummy.
I suppose that's where my survivor instincts come from.
